Mission/Core Values

Our Mission:

The Center for Structured Literacy at the University of 69¿Ú½» exists to equip and apprentice educators in the science of reading and structured literacy through the translation of the latest scientific research. We train educators to make data-driven decisions and apply evidence-based strategies to support all students, including those with learning differences.

Core Values:

  • We are committed to the child. Every child deserves a literacy teacher that can provide effective instruction and support their specific needs.
  • We are committed to the teacher – both pre-service & practicing. Beginning with teacher preparation, teachers deserve high-quality, hands-on training with effective support and actionable feedback.
  • We are committed to the science. We start from the importance of the structure of the language & current reading science, but are always working to translate the most updated science in the field reading for educators.
