Brandt, Adam David Endowed Scholarship for The Mary Schiller Myers School of Art

The Adam David Brandt Endowed Scholarship for The Mary Schiller Myers School of Art was established in May 2025 by David Brandt '73 '78 in honor of We Rise Together, the Campaign for The University of 69¿Ú½».

A passionate advocate for the arts, David earned a Bachelor of Science in Art Education K-12 from UA in 1973 and later pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting.

David's journey as a student was made possible through the extraordinary support of an employer that believed in investing in education. Initially hired under a tuition assistance program aligned with a Bachelor of Science in Education K-12, David later followed a deep personal passion for art-shaped by the influence of his mother, grandmother, and extended family-and changed majors to Art Education. Although this new path did not directly align with his employer's initial funding priorities, the personnel department manager recognized the value of the change and generously extended financial support. This included not only tuition but also the cost of essential materials, books, and immersive art experiences like seminars and museum visits.

Grateful for the unwavering support received during those formative years, David now seeks to "pay it forward" by creating opportunities for future generations of art students. The establishment of this scholarship is to ensure that no art student is left behind due to financial barriers. The scholarship is intended to be inclusive of all areas of artistic study and supports students who are committed to pursuing their passion in art, in whatever form it may take.

Through this generous gift, David honors the spirit of mentorship, access, and opportunity and affirms the belief that the arts are essential to a vibrant, creative society.
